| Obituary | 13 November 1880 | His obituary: on 13 November 1880 at Port Jervis Evening Gazette, Orange Co., New York, In a section called "Splints From the Rail":
Fire men were shockingly mangled and killed by the accident Wednesday of last week on the Carolina Central railroad, near Indian Creek.
By the explosion of a locomotive which was blown to atoms near Palo Alto, Pa. Thursday of last week, Patrick Donahue, engineer; Thomas Kenoin, conductor, and William Ash and John Maher, brakemen, were instantly killed. The bodies of the men presented a sickening spectacle, being terribility mutilated. Two of the bodies were blown a distance of 100 yards, and when picked up were limbless. |
