| Death |
circa 27 April 1949 |
Cleveland, Ashtabula Co., Ohio, [Alan Wiese said] I am still trying to get additional information on Edwin Fanslow's 1st wife here in Ohio. As I've said, I only heard abbreivated "stories" about her when I was a kid. I found her name on the Cleveland Library on-line newspaper obituary files. She died here in Cleveland on or about 27 Apr 1949 (the newspaper date is 29 Apr 1949, so I am assuming her death date was 2 or 3 days prior to the publication. I confirmed it was her because her mother's name and two brothers' names as survivors matched the names on the 1930 Census enumeration sheet. Another reason I overlooked it is because she gave her name as "Ann" on the marriage license application for her and Edwin. Her real name was Veronica Lutkus, oldest child of Anthony and Stella Lutkus, immigrants from Lithuania. Not only that, but she lied about her age, also...giving her age as 27, when in fact she was 29...which made her 4 years older than Edwin. She was previously married to a Lewis M. Chalto, but the divorce was finalized on 18 Dec 1941, three months before she and Edwin got married at a Lutheran church on the east side of Cleveland.1 |
