Marriage 10 August 1818 Lucy Pettit; Book 1 pg 172, Mercer Co., Kentucky, She's daughter of Thomas Pettit. The minister is Joel Gordon
Religion 1832-1847, Kentucky, Elijah Jeffries commenced his ministry among the churches of this Association [South KY Assoc of Separate Baptists, No. 2], not far from 1832, and for many years, was one of the most influential preachers of the body. He was Moderator of the Association from 1842 to 1847. At first, he favored the proposed union with the United Baptists, in 1842, but afterwards strenuously opposed it. It was thought to be his influence that prevented the union, and came so near destroying the Association. He labored something near twenty years in that region. The author has no account of him, at a later date.2

There's these possible Jones relatives that bear looking into.
Next door to John in 1830 Asa Jones 1m0-4 1m10-15 1m15-20 1m40-50 1f0-5 1f30-40.
Two pages from him in 1840 is Benjamin Jones 1m0-5 1m5-10 1m30-40 2f0-5 1f10-15 1f20-30.

Levi Jones 3m0-10 1m26-45 1f0-10 1f26-45.
In Tree Talks (West LA FHC 974.7 B2y) v.14 pg.7 there's a small history of Chenango County with blurbs on village of Coventry. Among the first settlers were a Simon Jones in 1785 and a Benjamin Jones in 1788. Benjamin Jones kept the first inn.

At the Pine Hill Rd cemetery where son Adelbert is buried there are some other Jones who may or may not connect in. These are the stones.

Frank H Jones 1864-1922 (possible parents Christopher & Augusta in 1880 census w/son Frank age 16).
Roxcy H Jones 1840-1920.
Edwin L Jones.
George H Jones died Oct 28, 1852 age 40 years & 7 mo.
Elvira A Wilder wife of George H Jones 1824-1896.
Jones - Harvey 1879-1957 Elsie Mae 1885-1963.
Jones - Price D 1887-1953 Roberta R 1895-1981.
Albert Jones 1883-1958.
Lewis R Jones 1846-1932 Alice E his wife 1852-1926.
R(or B) Arthur Jones 1882-1887.

In 1991 Steve Jones talked to a local Jones man who gave the following connections of above.
The man was Frank Henry Jones 77 Sydney Center RD 1 Box 200AA Masonville NY 13839.
His parents are Harvey (14 Jun 1879-15 Feb 1957) & Elsie Mae (Burnside) above who were married Jan 1909.
Harvey's father was Frank H Jones (Supposition: Frank of 1864-1922 was probably brother of Harvey and they were sons of another Frank).
There is also a George, brother to Harvey who served in WWI.

(Witness) History Cannonsville, Tompkins Twnshp, Delaware Co., New York, 974.736/T1 H2s is a book on Tomkins that gave me these general facts:
Cannonsville originally was Dickonson City. Prior to 1808 Tompkins was Pinefield. Cannonsville Post Office closed in 1962 when they started flooding for the dam. As the water built up, it took over the area that had been Cannonsville, Rock Rift, Rockroyal, and Granton. In 1984, the State Senator was Charles D Cook who was born in Tompkins. The book was written in 1984 by Perry Shelton

Biography Commemorative Biographical Record of Harrison Ohio (Beers 1891, my Evd 1245).
Jacob Jarvis, county surveyor and deputy sheriff of Harrison County, was born in Kirkwood Township, Belmont Co Ohio in January 1815. His father, Philip Jarvis, a native of Baltimore County MD, moved from there, about the year 1811, to Belmont County Ohio where he entered a farm and married Mary Barnett, of Baltimore County MD, who bore him eight children, four of whom are now living, one in Fairview, Guernsey Co Ohio, two in Missouri and one (our subject in Harrison County, Ohio. The mother died in Belmont County in 1855, at the age of sixty-six years, and shortly after that event Philip Jarvis moved to Harrison County, where he died at the residence of his son, Jacob, in 1866, at the age of eighty-one years. The paternal grandfather of our subject, also named Philip, was a native American of German descent, as was also the maternal grandmother, the great-grandparents on both sides having been born in Germany.

This is to certify that I am satisfied that David Spangler should have my daughter and that license should be issued according to the law this shall be your faithfull discharge from me given under my hand and seal this 3rd day of November 1798.
It's signed Elizabeth Neal and witnessed by Warden Pope.
Marriage Register (from Filson Club records) shows David Spangler and Eliza Durk license date 3 Nov [1798] and marriage date "do." from the previous line with says November 13t. Who married them is blank.
Previously, the names made things confusing because Elizabeth's mother was named Neal. However, subsequent research by Peggy Willmering of Spokane WA, showed that Elizabeth's mother was widow of a Durke, and married Thomas Nealle, explaining the confusion.
per 1903 news article "Elizabeth Derische, who became the wife of David, was also his first cousin. She had one sister, Esther Postlethwaite, and three half-sisters, Polly Carr, Nancy Carr and Sarah Bowman. No brothers". Need to check this out1,2
Note William Spangler; Bio of Simon, David's son, William's grandson, says "His father, G. F. Spangler, was of German descent, and was a soldier in the old colonial Indian wars. He was a noted marksman and wrester, and on one occasion he was captured by the savages, but escaped after being a prisoner for six months."
However, G.F. doesn't match either David or William's name. Without a more specific date of the wars, either of them could be the soldier to whom the bio refers.
Military 12 February 1799 Per KY State Historical Society Register v.30 pg.11 (referred to, not looked up) David was made an Ensign on this date.3
(Witness) Deed 7 August 1799 Margaret (__________); Jefferson Co., Kentucky, John & Margaret Abbott to David Spangler, 100 acres, being part of the land held in right of the dower of Margaret as widow and relict of William Spangler.
It appears that John & Margaret Abbott left their older children in Kentucky. Milly may have become acquainted with Peter Peckinpaugh through Henry Peckinpaugh, Peter's uncle, though only 4 years older, who was married to Catherine Spangler.
The book also says "How, or whether Catherine Spangler was related to William Spangler is not known. She was the daughter of George & Mary C Spangler, and married Henry 17 May 1804 in Jefferson Co KY." However, the Catherine who married Henry is the daughter of William & Margaret, not a George & Mary.4

Who is Bernard Spangler???.

Note Note that the Bernard Spangler referred to above was of Paradise Twnship, York Co PA (wife Eve). He purchased land in Jefferson Co KY 25 Nov 1795. It might be worthwhile researching the York Co PA Spanglers (I have a gedcom of Bernard who was born 30 Sep 1745)
Deed 18 August 1802 Jefferson, Clark Co., Indiana, On 18 Aug 1802 Richard Terrell and Lucy his wife sold land to David Spangler. They were both of Jefferson Co KY and it was "in consideration of the tract of land containing [564.5] acres conveyed by a deed bearing date of this day to the said Richard Terrell and called and known by the name of Abbots Station" - in other words, they traded land. The land that David bought was in Clark Co KY and called [can't read] Grant, and contained 1129 acres "bing the whole of No. 40 and part of No. 38 and 39" [Grant #38 - 500, Grant #39 - 129 acres, Grant #40 - 500 acres]5

The obit also says that David "who in 1802 owned 1000 acres of land where the Louisville waterworks stand. In that year he traded 500 acres for a similar tract in Clark County, Ind. The Clark County family still [1914] owns the Government patent to the original 1000 acres."
History of Ohio Falls Cities & Their Counties Vol II 1882 (Evd 1184) page 398 on Utica Township says "On Mr David Spangler's place in the forks of Battle Creek is an ancient burying ground." (Indian burying mounds).
per 1903 newspaper article "The farm of 100 acres now owned by Sam'l Crum was sold to David's brother-in-law, Mathias Crum, for $100, which was the price of one year's work in getting out the logs for his (Spangler's) house. The house in which David and his wife, Elizabeth, with their three small children, William, Simon and Polly, ate their first meal on Christmas, 1803, just 100 years ago Friday. This house was two and & half stories, of hewed ash and walnut logs forty feet long and weather-boarded. It contained one immense room and two smaller bed-rooms on the first floor, two large rooms on second door, the kitchen being also of hewed log and separated from the main house by a floored and covered passage. The window and door facings were finished in heavy walnut moldings, a deep chair-board of solid cherry finished the walls. The mantle-tree was solid cherry, six feet high, and profusely ornamented in honey-comb work."6,3

CAUTION Is the John Marshall who died in Hardin Co with a wife Margaret the right John and Margaret? Ben Marshall at http://awt.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=bmarsh1999&id=I30 doesn't show a daughter Elizabeth
CAUTION Supposedly related to Rev John Marshall the Episcopal Bishop. Is he the same person as the Chief Justice who was born in Fauquier County, Virginia on September 24, 1755. Some have the Chief Justice as John M's grandfather through his son Thomas, but that is not accurate because Thomas's son married Mary Walters Ambler. I have yet to find a Rev John Marshall. Besides, what is my source for "Rev"? Source #1100 (daughter's record) just says "famous John Marshal"

Barbourville is situated on the Astraguntira creek, six or seven miles northeast by north of Deposit. Three brothers, James I., William and John Barbour, came from Saratoga county about 1820, and settled in what was then called Cook's settlement, but was named after the Barbours came Barbourville.
