b. 13 April 1796, d. 13 October 1853, #6206
Pop-up Pedigree
| Birth |
13 April 1796 |
Mifflin Co. or Cumberland Co., Pennsylvania, Information on the website http://homepage.macomb.com/~tkuntz states that Elizabeth was born about 1783 and died about 1855. Information on a compilation by Robert Fletcher states Elizabeth was born about 1788. The compilation by Beverly Aytes-Bowhall says Elizabeth was born April 14, 1794.1 |
| Marriage |
6 May 1819 |
David Hite (or Hight); Fairfield Co., Ohio, Todd Reeves' web site states Elizabeth and David were married May 1, 1819 in Loudon Co., VA. Karen Feisel's perusal of Fairfield Co. marriage records revealed a marriage date of May 6, 1819. Perhaps the LICENSE was purchased on May 1, 1819. The original record was cited to be in Fairfield Co. Probate Court Marriage Book 1803-1835, Section B.1 |
| Residence |
17 November 1823 |
Perry Co., Ohio, as evidenced by a document concerning the sale of lands of deceased George DeLong (Elizabeth's father).1 |

| Burial |
|
Masedonia Cemetery, Antrim Twnshp, Wyandotte Co., Ohio, Info on Ancestry.com, supplied by DeLong researchers such as John Baldwin, Carla Nash and Todd Reeves states that Elizabeth was buried in the Macedonia Cemetery, Wyandot Co., OH. Karen Feisel has checked cemetery listings for Wyandot Co., OH and found that Elizabeth and her husband David Hite are in fact buried at the Masedonia Cemetery (note spelling) in Antrim Twp. The cemetery listing shows that Elizabeth died Oct. 13, 1853 at age 57 years 6 months 21 days. Karen also has a photo of the cemetery, taken from the internet. In addition, the census records are revealing. In the 1830 federal census for Grand Prairie Island Twp., Marion Co., OH, Elizabeth "Hite" was listed as head of household, with one male age 10 but under 14 (this would be son Stephen), two females under age five (these would be Cecelia and Elizabeth), two females age five but under 10 (these would be Anna and Magdalena), and one female age 30 but under 40 (this would be Elizabeth the mother). This township is immediately south of Antrim Twp., Wyandot Co., OH where Elizabeth is buried. The 1840 federal census for Grand Prairie Twp., Marion Co., OH, shows Elizabeth "Hyett" as head of household, with no males in the home, but two females age 10 but under 15 (this would be Cecelia and Elizabeth), two females age 15 but under 20 (this would be Anna and Magdalena).1 |

b. 4 January 1795, d. 12 December 1876, #6212
| Birth |
4 January 1795 |
Wheeling, Ohio Co., West Virginia, (was VA) - Indications are that she went by the name "Jane." It is possible she may have been the daughter of James Law who came to Wayne Twp., Noble County, OH in 1809 and was the father of 12 children. Jane evidently could not write, as in 1822 she signed "with her mark" a deed, pertaining to the sale of her deceased father-in-law's property.1 |

Stevenson-Campground Cemetery, Richland Twnshp, Fairfield Co., Ohio, The printed cemetery record for Stevenson-Campground Cemetery in Richland Twp., Rushville, OH shows a Samuel Leath buried in Row 10 (the cemetery was read starting on the west and copied from north to south). It indicates Samuel died on Feb. 22, 1821 at age 40 years, but other researchers indicate that Samuel was born in 1755. Perhaps an error in reading the tombstone? Or an error by other researchers? The cemetery is located on the east side of Snake Run Road., 1/8 mile north of Richland Rd. (CR 19). Ann DeLong Leath is not shown in the printed cemetery record which is on file at the Fairfield Co. OGS Library in Lancaster.1 |

Wyandot Co., Ohio, probably1 |
| Burial |
|
Masedonia Cemetery, Antrim Twnshp, Wyandotte Co., Ohio, Some of the details about the Hite family came from a family record prepared by Lucille Ellsberry. David's parents were Andrew Hite (occupation farmer) and Anna Taylor; they belonged to the Primitive Baptist Church and are buried at Pleasant Run Cemetery, Pleasant Twp., Fairfield Co., OH. David's surname is spelled "Hight" in an 1822 land Indenture listing him and his wife and all of his wife's siblings. He was a farmer. The cemetery listing shows he died Dec. ?, 1839 at age 35 years. However IF David was born in 1794, he would have been 35 years old in 1829, not 1839. This is probably NOT our David Hite. IT IS MUCH MORE LIKELY that David died in or near Wyandot County, Ohio and was buried there in the Macedonia Cemetery with his wife. (See notes on his wife.) David's name cannot be found in the 1820 census for Marion County, Ohio where his wife and children were living in 1830 and 1840. Marion County did not exist until 1824, so it is not included in the 1820 census. Other surrounding county 1820 census records need to be checked for David.1 |

|
Ray Roberts - RRoberts@dkwlaw.com and Lisaandray36@aol.com has this information: As described in the Daily Oil Review of Sistersville, WV, published in 1896, Jacob Lewis, Jr., was instrumental in obtaining a promise from a Baptist preacher named Jeremiah Dale, who was the pastor in a church in Marietta, Ohio, to preach in Long Reach Bottom (near Jacob's home) if a meeting place could be found. Jacob Lewis arranged for the services to be conducted at the home of William Johnson. Neither Jacob Lewis or William Johnson were Baptists, but it was through their efforts that the First Baptist Church in Tyler County was organized. |
